Everything you need to study for the British citizenship test – part 2

British, flag

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, for question “must I memorize everything?”, the answer is…yes.
I really find some questions in tests and material in book a little eccentric.
Like I may be ask to identify British cities.
Will they show me a photo, or landmarks characteristic for each city?
Handbook sent me to page 62 and 63 …I may be asked to show location of cities on the map!
It is not too bad as we have only 12 cities in England, 3 in Wales, 4 in Scotland and only 1 in Northern Ireland.
Then we have following topics of Legislation and UK courts …question about the number of members in jury for example can be expected.

All right, this is a rational question for a future citizen.
But why must I memorise lines from Robert Browning’s poem?

I wonder how many native British people know this poem at all?
It is the same thing like in case of sport and some person who was famous for rowing or something in these lines.
And is this really a fact of national importance that Wales is famous from Daffodils?
Whoever made these tests questions, he or she was definitely very particular person.
Handbook says that we should not use it as a script.
We should be able to use our own words to explain what we had learnt.
Chapter 7 of the Handbook contains summary of information from main body of the book.
It helps me a lot with memorizing of dates and events in following periods of British history.
I think that the best way to study is really by taking mock tests and taking a lot of them.
Even if I answer several questions wrongly, I can see the correct answers appearing and it helps to memorise.
The more test I do, the better it is for my confidence as it is growing.
