Getting ready for British citizenship tests.

After years of living in UK I’ve decided to finally apply for British citizenship.
I am working and living here, I pay taxes, I have settled status through the EU Settlement Scheme, I am interested in history and culture of Great Britain.
I have to pass language test which I am less worried about.
Naturally my usage of English language if far from perfect in speaking and writing but I can read all books in English without any problem just like I can read in my first language.
My co workers are mostly of foreign extraction so I cannot learn from them much.
So I watch old documental programs or old English movies, especially from 60 ties or 70 ties.
In those days BBC presenters used so called “Queens English” which sounded posh and clear in the same time.
Speaking English this way is my aim.
I really like the way Quentin Crisp used to speak and also Dame Edith Sitwell.
Well, I won’t imitate them during my language test of course,
It is better to use simple language and do not get to carried away using eloborate vocabulary.
Cost of language test is now around £150.00
Cost of Life in UK test is £50 for test taken and if I will need to resit, I will need to pay another £50.
Life in UK test seems to be more tiresome.

I’ve bought “Life in the UK Test Handbook” which I read in intervals.
There are some information which I find really odd to be remembered by a future Briton like table showing growth of UK population from year 1600…
Is that really necessary for me to know that?
Do any normal British person aware of population growth in Britain between ages?
Or is this mandatory to know who Sir Steve Redgrave was?
He won gold medals in rowing during several Olympic Games.
I would prefer a question who Vanessa Redgrave is… surely one of great British actresses of 20 century.
I’ve started making mock tests and results are not bad at all.
Better to do as many mocked tests as possible to feel confident and also this is a fun way to memorize stuff I find less interesting.
Hopefully next year, I will collect all the necessary documents and money to pay for application.
