When I came too London in 2007, I first stayed in a small room which I shared with Brazilian lady, who was never really staying in that room longer than couple of hours a day.
She stayed mostly in her boyfriends place what was great as I had whole room for my self most of time.
I do like to be alone and living alone in London is not so easy to achieve if one does not have planety of money to spend for rent.
So I decided to live in single room, no matter how small as long it was just for me.
Shared house has its disadvantages, for example other tenants which are in each other way most of time.
But there are ways to accomplish sort of solitude in shared house.
So I did not cook much or at all and I used shared bathroom when other people were either still sleeping or sleeping already.
Weekends were problematic however as flatmates stayed awaken far too long…
To solve problem of overpopulated flat, I had moved to house with maximum three people living there, including me.
I found such house and it was really super.

Each flatmate worked at different hours so there was no issue of bathroom being blocked or kitchen jam.
Both flatmates were single, male and very busy at work so when they had day off, they both went out to enjoy themselves in town. So often I had living room, kitchen and bathroom for myself during weekends.

And I would keep living in my really sweet little Victorian house in Shepherd’s Bush cosy back street until now most probably but then tragedy struck.
Main tenant found himself a girlfriend.
And she moved in…………..
The other guy moved out as he had enough.
Like me, he really liked peace and quiet of our shared household.
We could say only “hello” to each other and then we could stay silent without offending the other side.
So this brilliant silent man left and new “lady” moved in.
I have no words to describe the mayhem which broke out.
Therefore I moved out.
I could do that because I was super lucky to find a very very small apartment or rather tiny house for rent.
It has size of small summer seaside cabin, but I have all things I need there, including my own mini bathroom.

There is not much space for stuff but luckily I don’t have many things.
And all house is mine, mine!
I can cook when I want, I can do laundry when I want, I can sleep without smell of fried sausage creeping from a kitchen, I do not find tons of someone’s else hair under shower etc etc.
Bliss.
Finally, after many many years of discomfort, I have place for me only.
I don’t care it is so small.
I like it being small because: it is easy to clean, it is easy to heat during cold season, I can save money because I feel no urge to buy new stuff as there is no space to store it.
When something must be bought like electric fan, it must be simply a small fan.
Hopefully I will be able to stay in my small flat for a long time.
This place improves my character because now, free from too much of “social life” forced on me by circumstances, I can be more benevolent towards other people.
